hope in a new day

Today has been one of 'those days'...

Just glad everyone is in bed and asleep.

Hoping... No

PRAYING for a better day tomorrow.

May the sweet fragrance of a meadow breeze drift through our home tomorrow!

May Your Glory shine where there are only ashes, LORD!

Family

Today while playing with one of my little brothers I asked him, "Do you like having big brothers and sisters?"

He looked at me and replied, "Yes! And I like having a family. But when I was in Lithuania I didn't even know the name for family."

How heart breaking to live your whole life without even knowing the word for family!

Thanks and God Bless!!!

The Beauty That Surrounds Us

After visiting a friend's farm
I have some new photos of God's creation to admire
on those dim snowy days of winter yet to come.

The Potter's Vase

Today one of the younger kids had another meltdown. While I was holding them for dear life so that they couldn't cause serious harm to themselves or me I was asking, "Why?" And this came to mind.

God designs a beautiful vase, elegant and amazingly painted. He picks it up tenderly, giving it to someone as a gift. Disastrously either they or someone else drops it. It becomes smashed. Some pieces are large, and some small, but it is scattered all over the floor. This breaks Gods heart. He had created something beautiful and now it is shattered beyond recognition.

He painstakenly sweeps up all the pieces. Gathering them in a pile. He comes to you and He says, "Because I love you so much as my child I want to give you this." And He hands the pile to you. You stare at the pile of broken pottery and you go, "What is this? Why would you give this to me? It is so ugly!"

But you decide to give it a shot and start to painstakingly put the pieces back together. Going through agonizing pain you cut your fingers on the shards. You get cramps in your back as you bend to the task. Slowly one by one the vase pieces stick together and you start to see the beautiful creation God had made.

And then while attaching another piece, BAM! The vase brakes again and you are tempted to give up. But you remember that beautiful vase that you could start to see. So you cut yourself some more and endure some more cramps until the glue starts to give you a head ache.

Then all of a sudden the vase is complete and it is more beautiful than you could ever have imagined. You suddenly realize that being given that pile of rubble and broken shards was the most amazing privilege that you could ever have been given. You understand that all the cuts, and cramps, and aches were worth it.

Because out of the pain and brokenness something even more beautiful was created.

Psalm 72:14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall be their blood in His sight. NKJV

Places

A huge Thank You to my lovely friend who lent me her point and shoot camera for the summer so that I could capture memories! Here are a couple of my favourite scenes from my time away.

A Reality Check

Some days I ask, (okay scream in my head), "Why do I have to parent somebody else's delinquent kids!"

Then I think, "They are NOT somebody else's delinquent kids, THEY'RE MY KIDS! And its my job to raise them to be all they can be."

I might have to work through the tough days but I get to celebrate the great times too.

We went out for lunch after church last week and before we had eaten much of the food Warrior said in his customarily loud voice, "Thank you, Mummy. Thank you, Daddy, for lunch."

Most of the restaurant heard and the poor waitress nearly spilled the food she was serving in someone's lap because of her surprise.

She promptly turned around and thanked him for his manners and continued to say to the other customer, "You don't hear that very often!"

THEY'RE MY KIDS AND THEY'RE AWESOME!!!!

An Up-Hill Battle

This summer I hiked my share of mountains. Our first hike was 7 hours of up-hill battle and the hikes just got harder and harder. They might have been shorter in duration but they never let us down on the difficulties.

Packing our bags became an art as we moved
9 times while in Honduras.

But by the grace of God our easier hikes were the moving hikes where we had to carry all of our belongings on our backs.

We would hire local mules and their care takers
to move our kitchen supplies from one location to the next.

They were never easy, and often times we would share each others loads. Reminding us of how God often doesn't remove us from a situation, but rather is the ever present encourager who carries our loads when we can't.

Our leaders Were ALWAYS there for us!
Here he carries not only his full pack
but also the pack of one of our teammates
who was particularly struggling.

It is still hard, but it is ok, because you KNOW that no matter what you come up against there is someone right there beside you who will catch you before you fall off the mountain.

I did in fact almost fall off the mountain on one of our hikes,
Thankfully one of my leaders caught me before that happened.

Who will lift your burdens when they are too heavy, who will offer the encouraging words that are willing you to continue, willing you to keep fighting.

When hiking to different village's
to do presentations in their schools and churches
 we would take back packs
filled with the day necessities.

It is not how we fall down but rather how we GET BACK UP!There were many times when I had to get back up, and many when I was the one who got to help others to their feet.

Seeing signs of a village after a hike was always encouraging
because it would remind us of why we had just spent the past hours
placing one foot in front of the other.

I might not have physical mountains in my path right now, but I DO have Spiritual Mountains. And I have to keep reminding myself that I am not climbing this mountain alone!

We were never alone when hiking,
and team mates saw me at my worst
yet they would never leave me.
God has seen you worse then anyone ever will
but He NEVER leaves you to scale your mountains alone.

Thanks and God Bless!!
