Self Esteem part 2

Ladies and Gentlemen as promised I bring you the next instalment of:

Self Esteem= Image

This time around I want to discuss the affects that our friends have on our self image.

When it comes to our friends we trust them with our life and we tell them all our troubles. They are there for us in the hard times and in the good.

We trust their opinion and take it to heart. Not only are they affecting our self esteem by what they say but they are also affecting it through the image that is transferred from them to us.

If we hang out with the druggies we will be thought of as a druggie. If we hang out with air heads we will be thought of as an air head. It doesn't even matter if we take drugs or not. Or if we are Rhodes Scholars or not. Our friends affect what people think of us and what people think of us affects what they say to, and about us. Which in turn affects our self esteem through self judging.

Self judging is when we go through our day and lives in the privacy of our own minds, thinking of all the things that we did 'wrong' and punishing ourselves for it.

The bible tells us in Titus 2:11-14, "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works."

We do not need to worry about what we did because GOD has saved us from that, but we do need to follow Him with a zealous passion, doing God's good works.

We need to examine how our       friends are affecting our self esteem because in the end, what we think of ourselves is what we think of God's creation. In Genesis 2:7 it says, "Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature."

We are the creation of God.
