The Sweet Fragrance of a Meadow Breeze

Today I gave my full testimony for the very first time. It was hard!
But God used it. He used it to show His glory. He used it to soften hearts and mend wounds of long ago.

One side of my story is about who God wants me to be.

It was many years ago that I asked God the question of who He wanted me to be and the reply I received was,  "The Sweet Fragrance of a Meadow Breeze."

I love nature, I love the creation God made to reveal His glory. I love the warm spring sunlight that seems to be carried on the gentle breeze. I love the sweet scent of wild flowers. I love the visual pleasure of an open meadow enclosed by tall protecting trees.

I could totally see what God was expecting me to be like. Beautiful.. Elegant... Warm... Soft... Joyful...
A true pleasure to be around.

I liked that! No room for self hatred there. Nor anger, frustration, or selfish demanding attitudes.

Yes Lord I wanted to be 'The Sweet Fragrance of a Meadow Breeze'!

But it didn't take long for my human self to break into this romantic picture. Due to life's experiences and selfish attitudes I was an angry young Mum with no patience at all. Most of the time I had 'The Stench of a Stagnant Rotting Swamp' about me.

Over the years God has worked with me and softened my raw rough edges. Nowadays I can tell which one I am acting like and can adjust my attitude. Sometimes!

Looking at my needs, my wants, my desires, produces the stench of that stagnant rotting swamp to waft through my life.

While looking at Jesus, His desire, His compassion, His love for others, produces the sweet fragrance of a meadow breeze to settle about me.

With Jesus is where I need to be. With Jesus is where I want to be!

What about you? Who does Jesus want you to be?

With Christ's love, Mumzy.

Why not?

As a volunteer at the local Pregnancy Centre I do Youth Group presentations on the sanctity of life. I have to know the stats for the abortion rate in Canada and it is rather mind boggling. In Canada over 100,000 babies lives are ended by abortion each year. Which converts into which converts into about 300 a day that means 10 class rooms of children are aborted every single day in Canada! Most of these abortions happen when the developing baby is somewhere between 7 & 12 weeks old. But in my mind it gets even worse!

At 22 days after conception the baby's heart starts to beat!
At 3 weeks you can see their eyes and ears!
At 6 weeks the baby has fingers and toes!
From weeks 6 - 11 the baby will grow 5 times in size!
At 11 weeks the baby smiles, frowns, wiggles their fingers and toes and even sucks their thumb!
All of this is happening during the average age abortions are being performed!

Where are the hands and feet of God?!? What are we doing when these lives are being taken from these children? Are they not supposed to be in the safest place in the world? Where is our loving compassion for all? Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost! But are we seeking those who are lost and showing them the saving grace of Jesus? Are we truly showing them?

I've found my heart so I implore you that you find yours! And fly on the wings of Eagles!!!!!! We are God's instruments so we need to be willing to listen and do! If we don't do then who will? GOD has called us to sooo much more. So why sit there doing the mundane when you could be taking part in the adventure of a life time?

Let me put it this way.... When you look back 20 years from now don't you want to be able to say that you had the faith to jump? I know that I do, so why not join me?

Thanks and GOD Bless!!!!

Kiwi Boy

Hello it's Kiwi Boy here. This post is for all those people who think homeschoolers are lonely. They are not! I have a very active social life. Every day I go to swim training with 13 others in my squad. I attend Youth Group once a week and get to hang out with my friends. Plus church on Sundays. And then a homeschoolers group on Fridays. I hardly have time to do my school work.

Hobbies include, building Airfix models, Lego, computer games, helping lead Sunday school for preschoolers, and swimming.

Optional activities include Nerf battles, snowball fights, and foiling satan's evil plans!

And occasionally this....                          at my friend's house.

Time for swimming, enjoy your day!

Romeo & Juliet

As some of you know I am homeschooled. For my writing assignment last week I had to write a paper on Romeo & Juliet. I thought that it would be nice to share with you my inner thoughts about the book/play as well as life.

In the play Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare, we see the result of placing importance on culture, and birth status, in the end it kills them. Unfortunately these things are still present in today's society and not just in Shakespeare's. That is what I will be tackling today.

The cultures that we are born in effect what kind of ambitions and paths are set before us. If you are born into the hood then the people, and the cultures around you expect you to end up in a gang, become a druggie, kill someone, and then die in prison.

But if you were born into a senators  family then it is expected of you to be a success in life. Either you become a senator yourself or you become a prosperous  business person who lives on the upper east side.

Where you are born puts a lot of pressure on your future and gives you so little room to follow your heart. This was the dilemma that both of the main characters felt. They could not truly be together because it would be against their family's wishes, and expectations. Juliet was to marry an old Friend of her Father and Romeo was to find some rich lady. They were forced, as we are, to follow the plans that others have set before us. The need to stay hidden was what caused their deaths.

After they died the feuding families finally realised that they where at fault. But why does it take such an dramatic event to awaken people to the error of their ways? I think that the answer to this question is that we as people don't rely on GOD. We don't live in constant yearning to follow God's will for our lives.

So I challenge you to follow your heart and not to be afraid of being different. Follow God's will because what He has in plan is something that we could never imagine!

Thanks and GOD Bless!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

We didn't keep Thanksgiving in New Zealand so saying "Happy Thanksgiving" still requires us to think, rather than it just being  a habitual response. It does help us to remember the special things God has given us over the last year so I guess we are starting to understand the essence of the Holiday.

Later today we are going to share supper with some friends who have kindly invited us to their family celebration meal. Good friends is one thing I am extremely thankful for. We have no family living in Canada and having friends willing to include us in their family is greatly appreciated. They help remove the loneliness felt during special Holiday times. These friends are especially cherished as it was with them that we experienced many of our Canadian firsts. LORD, THANKYOU FOR WONDERFUL FRIENDS!

I am also thankful for three amazing children. All of them a blessing from God. We prayed for each one and He gifted them to us along with the love and courage to raise them in His ways. Jellybeans has grown in confidence this year learning to draw from Christ's reassuring love. Wiggles has stepped out in serving others and teaching them of the gift of life as God intended. Kiwi Boy chose Jesus as his Lord and Saviour this year and was baptised! LORD, THANKYOU FOR WONDERFUL CHILDREN!

Papa Bear is one of my greatest treasures. I will always be grateful for him even when I don't show it. Which unfortunately is more often than I would like to admit. This past year Papa Bear has placed himself continuously before Christ and asked Him "Where to Lord, which way now?"  Together we have walked a very difficult path but with Jesus leading us and filling us with His Spirit we have emerged, albeit a little crumpled, standing with Christ before us. LORD, THANKYOU FOR A WONDERFUL HUSBAND!

What I am most grateful for is Jesus my Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit my guide and comforter, and God Almighty my Eternal Father. It is in His arms we have been carried this year. Without Him we can not stand with our heads raised, facing the life He has chosen to draw us nearer to Him. The life He has chosen to shine His glory through. LORD, THANKYOU FOR KEEPING YOUR PROMISES!

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with THANKSGIVING and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, LET US BOW DOWN IN WORSHIP, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.

Wiggles

Well Mumzy said that we had to do a post about ourselves, so this post is about me, Wiggles:)

Being home schooled I learn about the world around me, as well as the cultures that engulf the Earth. This gives me a heart to serve the Lord in any way possible. So last year in the summer of 2012 I packed up my bags and headed to Teen Missions International.

And went on a missions trip to Zambia (Africa).

When I came back I knew where my heart lay. It lies with women and girls who find themselves in situations of compromising values. Such as prostitution, women in abusive relationships, and girls who are pressed into situations that they are not okay with.

Because of this I volunteer at my local Pregnancy Centre where I love being able to see the ladies open up their lives to GOD. I watch Him take their broken hearts and heal them, and make them whole with His unchanging Grace! I know that GOD placed me here not only to serve but also to learn.

Thanks and GOD Bless!!!

His love endures forever

His love endures forever so we choose to love each other forever.

Our wedding October 4, 1992

We were married 21 years ago in Tauranga, New Zealand on a beautiful spring day in early October. It was the day our lives truly began. The day we learnt to share our lives with joy and hope. The day we promised before God, family, and friends to cherish each other through the ups and downs of married life.

Our farm in New Zealand

Now 21 years later with many ups, some downs, and a few deep dark valleys God continues to guide and bless this marriage. We are not where we thought we would be all those years ago but this is a better place, because Jesus is here. The Holy Spirit is the glue that keeps us together. God is the One that we honor with our lives.

Papa Bear was a successful business man in New Zealand when God sent us to Canada in 2010 on his 40th birthday. Now almost 4 years later God has Papa Bear studying for a Masters in Theology. He still owns some of that Finance business in New Zealand. And he still needs to travel back to New Zealand for work but God has him on a new path, with Christ at the center.

As for me, I never dreamed of being married to a preacher man. That's not for me. I'm too shy and introverted to be a preacher's wife. I wanted to be a farmer's wife, hiding out among the animals. But God thought differently. He wanted me to depend on Him completely. So here we are living in a foreign land, learning to love the beauty that surrounds us.

In our beautiful Province.

More of our beautiful Province.

From our back yard.

Thank you God for showing us Your glory. Your love truly does endure forever!

Take care and God bless, Mumzy
