Ponderings

I am someone who needs to have a goal in mind so that I can work hard and achieve what I need to.

 I have been looking at what I want to do after University so that as I go through my courses I have a goal and can finish my degree without throwing in the towel and saying that there is no point!

I know that I want to do something that will help people. I am just having a hard time deciding. I used to think that I would love to be a swim coach because I love teaching kids to swim but I don't know if I want to do that long term. It's more the sort of thing I want to do while I am at university and during the summers.

At the moment I am feeling more led to the medical. But I am not quite sure.

Fall colours

 

I took these photos about 3 weeks ago. Now the leaves have all fallen except the last few stragglers who will hold on until the dead of winter. We have had our first snow flurry of the season so I thought I had better hurry up and post about the glorious fall colours before we are blanketed in pristine white.

Trying to figure it out

Lately I have been trying to figure out what it is that GOD wants me to be and so I wanted to share with you a poem I wrote that kind of sums up my thoughts on the matter.

 

 

What do I do now?

 

 

As the leaves begin to fall

and turn brown with the season.

I think of the new season

of my life, and how to give You it all.

 

 

What have you called me to

in this life that You have given to me?

What am I meant to be, tell me,

is what the world says, what I should do?

 

 

 

 

Am I called to start something

new, that has never been done before?

 What hasn't been seen before

in a world that has thought of everything?

 

 

Let me do something different

from the actions that this world has done.

How do I do what is to be done,

and please those who hold the title of parent?

 

 

 

 

 GOD please show me how to be

who and what I am in Your Divine plan.

Don't let what I do be my plan,

but let it glorify You, as far as the eye can see!!! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I feel right now that I can't be the person that I should be, and do the things that I should do, all because I am still young and in school.

 

But I know that in 1Timothy 4:12 it tells us that we are not to be ashamed "because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." 

 

It  tells us not only are we to be strong in our faith and good examples for the world around us, but also for the believing community! It is just as much my job as it is yours that we search for GOD's plan for us. To pursue it without looking back.

 

When we follow  GOD's plan it is all going to work out in the end. We do not have to fret! We are under GOD's arm, under His protection and LOVE! He loves us and we have the chance to show His love to those around us!! 

 

My prayer is that we of this generation, as well as those who come before and behind, will have the courage to be different for His Glory!!!

Coming of age

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they should live, not to be slanders or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2:3-5

Not many would notice what is different about my Wiggles tonight. But for me there are big changes. Tonight is the first time she is allowed to go out in public wearing makeup. 

In our house we made the rule that you had to be 16 years old before makeup became a part of your wardrobe. She is not 16 until later this month but we made an exception for tonight.

 

Tonight is the annual fundraiser for the Pregnancy Centre so we permitted her to wear makeup to the Banquet.

 

We teach our girls to love their future husbands. To be subject to what their husbands would find pure. We desire for our girls to wait to become grown up until they are ready to submit to a husband.

 

Don't get me wrong, both our girls are opinionated and are not afraid to let others know what they are thinking. But what they do now will effect their marriages so self-control is a priority in their growth and maturity. We are proud of our girls putting their husbands first while they are developing relationships with others.

 

One day I know their husbands will thank them and love them all the more because of their choices.

Orphan Sunday

Today is Orphan Sunday.

I don't know if this makes me happy or sad. I am really glad that all the children who do not have the love of a family have a day so that we can raise awareness and help them find homes.

But I am also sad because there are so many children around the world who are without; without the love that a mum or dad (or both) can give.



Wiggles

I know that when I have finished my degree/s (I might do a masters) I will do something that can help these "lost children".

I really want to adopt (preferably a bunch of crazy boys :) ) I also know that God has a plan for me. I don't know where He is leading me but I do know that He has put love for these children in my heart.

Here are a couple of websites that I look at. The first is a site designed for adoption awareness, they strive to find families for the children posted on their site and then raise money to help them bring their children home. They are not an adoption agency, rather they direct the people who inquire about a child listed to the agency who has that child's file.

The second is a blog from a website. What these people do is help to care for some of China's orphans. http://www.lwbstories.com

It is my hope that today you will spread the word of these children who wait all over the world and let others know that they can do something!

We can pray, adopt, raise money for, raise awareness of, sponsor, etc. these children.

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
 
Because I am a swimmer I like to think of this in swimming terms:
 
Do you not know that those who swim a race all swim, but only the one who touches the wall first will win? Swim so that you may win (even if by only 0.01)!


Or if you are the fish in the picture, so you get the worm!

Remember that as you run (or swim) the race of life that it is a marathon (or 10km open water) and strive to win for the glory of Him that is creator!

Isn't it beautiful?

Have you ever felt down and sad with out even knowing why? That is how I have been feeling today :(  But then I remind myself that all I have to do is look outside and see the Wonder of GOD's Creation! Isn't it beautiful?
