Communication

We have begun communications with our sweet children to be. Every 2 or 3 days we email a letter to the Lithuanian Lawyer who translates it into Lithuanian for the children and then sends it on to their orphanage.

Earlier this week we received some drawings from the girls. They were covered in hearts, how sweet is that!

Today we received a letter written by one of the boys. It reads like this...

Dear Future parents,

I cannot wait to meet you. I can do a lot of tricks with football. I run fast and no one is able to outrun me. (Names) told that they love you very much and like you a lot. I love you too. Do you have a computer? I love playing computer games. I am also interested which bedroom I will live in.

I love you very much.

To Mom and Dad

From (name)

I am not sure how they can all love us so dearly already but we will enjoy the words, (they may not be so nice later on!).

We have also just learned all of the children will be present at the court hearing and will be asked whether they wish to be adopted. Please pray that we can build a positive relationship with them through the letters and the few days we get to spend with them before court.

We are waiting for a court date but it could be as early as May or as late as July or August. Sooner would be better so we can spend the summer getting to know each other!

It Has Come!

  I am soooo tired!!!!!

I have been up to the wee hours for the last three nights with my brave soul of a daughter sewing.

On Friday we received verbal acceptance from our local adoption people so we have been making gifts to send to Lithuania.

This afternoon we have received confirmation of this acceptance with the much sort after signed and sealed kind!

Next step is Lithuania and a court appearance.

Actually we have more paperwork to wade through first.

                                    AGGHHH!!!!

Thank you for all of your prayers,
Our Father in Heaven has heard!

Awe Struck!

This past weekend we received some videos of "our" darling children.

They are gorgeous!

I know, every parent says that about their child. But these kids aren't ours. Well not yet anyway. So we can say they are truly gorgeous if we want too.

Unfortunately all identifying information about the children is strictly confidential until after the court order is released. So sorry no pictures.

What I can tell you is that they are gorgeous!

Oh yeah, I have already said that...

Umm...   What else can I say?

They are a sibling group consisting of 2 boys and 2 girls. By the time they come home the eldest will be 10 years old and the youngest will be 5.

The orphanage they are living in resembles a boarding school more than an Eastern European orphanage.

And the two older children are learning English as a required subject in school! Hopefully they can say "Where is the toilet?"

This week, maybe even tomorrow, our local adoption government people will be reviewing our file in regards to our adoption of these children. Please pray that their approval comes swiftly and without any issues.

I can't wait to welcome some more crazy kids into our home!

What happened to March BREAK?

This week is March Break. So far there has been no "break" about it!

Sure we haven't done any school but I don't feel rested at all.

I spent the weekend glued to the computer trying to find out all the possible outcomes of a certain disorder that the local adoption services people feel one or all of the children may have. What a depressing thing to do!

If one, two, or all of my children were born with any type of disorder or disability I would not spend the first week of their life trying to decide if I wanted to parent them or not. They are my child!

I would learn about their needs, adapt what I know and how I do it. I would search out the help and support they need. I would fight for them.

I would LOVE them.

Not judge them or my abilities to parent them. I would not desert them just because they were not "perfect" by the worlds standards.

If God loves them (and He does!), and if God's love lives in me (which it does), then I have all the love and ability to support and seek the help that they need to blossom into the amazing people God created them to be.

On Monday we sent our Acceptance Letter for this beautiful sibling group to Lithuania. Now we are waiting for the local Adoption Services to decide that giving these children a family is more important than whether we may require outside services or not.

Please continue praying!

Happy Birthday Papa Bear!

This time 4 years ago we were sitting in Canada's Immigration room at Vancouver's International Airport. What a long day that was!

Papa Bear had his 40th birthday twice as we had crossed the international date line and he had to repeat the day all over again!

He spent his whole birthday (the 2 days worth) at airports or in airplanes, but we will never forget the date when we immigrated to Canada.

We told everyone he was having a midlife crisis!

Happy Birthday Papa Bear!

We all love you!!!!

Another Step Closer

Please pray!

We have just been informed by our adoption agency that our official Child Proposal has been sent to our provincial adoption services.

It is these people who hold our adoptions in the balance.

They have the right to turn down or approve our adoption of these specific children.

We can't see why there could be a problem. Nothing about the children is outside our homestudy guidelines. But still this is another stage that could make or break our adoption.

Please pray for a speedy reply with a great big APPROVED stamp.

Although Ukraine is miles south of Lithuania we don't want to be caught up in any Eastern Europe war/standoff/invasion. We have been told by our adoption agency what is happening in Ukraine will not affect our adoptions at all. Lithuania is a stable country without Ukraine's inner turmoil. But still, I imagine most of Eastern Europe is watching Russia with some level of concern.

Please pray also for the many families and children involved at different stages of adoption from Ukraine. Some are very close to bringing the child/children home. They have met each other, they begun to bond, they have definitely started to dream about life as a family.

Pray that they have the courage and safety to continue. Giving these children a family changes the future of the generations to come! Hope replaces despair!

Adoption is a God Sized journey with God Sized blessings, Pray for God Sized protection!

Baby Sitting

Today I went babysitting.

I don't usually get to do it very often because of my school and swimming schedule so it's a nice treat, especially when I get to babysit three awesome boys!

Yeah, they are "all boys", they love to wrestle in the snow outside and inside we have epic wars with stuffed toys as our "lethal weapons"!

It's good fun though and when I get to sit down and help one with his homework and another with his reading it really puts a smile on my face.

I am really excited for when God blesses me with children; to be honest I would love to adopt a bunch of boys! I've always loved boys and how they are tough but can still be sensitive and how even if they are older you can still play "epic" games with them.

I know what ever the Lord chooses to bless me with I'll be ready!
Jelly Beans.
