hope in a new day

Today has been one of 'those days'...

Just glad everyone is in bed and asleep.

Hoping... No

PRAYING for a better day tomorrow.

May the sweet fragrance of a meadow breeze drift through our home tomorrow!

May Your Glory shine where there are only ashes, LORD!

Family

Today while playing with one of my little brothers I asked him, "Do you like having big brothers and sisters?"

He looked at me and replied, "Yes! And I like having a family. But when I was in Lithuania I didn't even know the name for family."

How heart breaking to live your whole life without even knowing the word for family!

Thanks and God Bless!!!

The Beauty That Surrounds Us

After visiting a friend's farm
I have some new photos of God's creation to admire
on those dim snowy days of winter yet to come.

The Potter's Vase

Today one of the younger kids had another meltdown. While I was holding them for dear life so that they couldn't cause serious harm to themselves or me I was asking, "Why?" And this came to mind.

God designs a beautiful vase, elegant and amazingly painted. He picks it up tenderly, giving it to someone as a gift. Disastrously either they or someone else drops it. It becomes smashed. Some pieces are large, and some small, but it is scattered all over the floor. This breaks Gods heart. He had created something beautiful and now it is shattered beyond recognition.

He painstakenly sweeps up all the pieces. Gathering them in a pile. He comes to you and He says, "Because I love you so much as my child I want to give you this." And He hands the pile to you. You stare at the pile of broken pottery and you go, "What is this? Why would you give this to me? It is so ugly!"

But you decide to give it a shot and start to painstakingly put the pieces back together. Going through agonizing pain you cut your fingers on the shards. You get cramps in your back as you bend to the task. Slowly one by one the vase pieces stick together and you start to see the beautiful creation God had made.

And then while attaching another piece, BAM! The vase brakes again and you are tempted to give up. But you remember that beautiful vase that you could start to see. So you cut yourself some more and endure some more cramps until the glue starts to give you a head ache.

Then all of a sudden the vase is complete and it is more beautiful than you could ever have imagined. You suddenly realize that being given that pile of rubble and broken shards was the most amazing privilege that you could ever have been given. You understand that all the cuts, and cramps, and aches were worth it.

Because out of the pain and brokenness something even more beautiful was created.

Psalm 72:14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall be their blood in His sight. NKJV

Places

A huge Thank You to my lovely friend who lent me her point and shoot camera for the summer so that I could capture memories! Here are a couple of my favourite scenes from my time away.

A Reality Check

Some days I ask, (okay scream in my head), "Why do I have to parent somebody else's delinquent kids!"

Then I think, "They are NOT somebody else's delinquent kids, THEY'RE MY KIDS! And its my job to raise them to be all they can be."

I might have to work through the tough days but I get to celebrate the great times too.

We went out for lunch after church last week and before we had eaten much of the food Warrior said in his customarily loud voice, "Thank you, Mummy. Thank you, Daddy, for lunch."

Most of the restaurant heard and the poor waitress nearly spilled the food she was serving in someone's lap because of her surprise.

She promptly turned around and thanked him for his manners and continued to say to the other customer, "You don't hear that very often!"

THEY'RE MY KIDS AND THEY'RE AWESOME!!!!
